Michał Wierzbowski

Michał Wierzbowski is an Associate at EIES.

Michał is an energy expert with over 15 years of experience spanning energy systems, strategic analysis, and public governance, from industry, research, and government. As a power engineer by training, Michał began his career in electrical construction in the energy sector. He has since spent nearly a decade at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister of Poland, where he worked as Director of the Department for Analyses, Deputy Director for Regulatory Impact Assessment and Analyses and Head of Energy and Sectoral Analyses, directing analysis for the Centre of Government (CoG) across strategic economic and social matters with particular engagement in energy policy and energy security. Before joining EIES, Michał worked as a Senior Expert and Advisor at WiseEuropa, an independent Warsaw-based policy think tank, where he focused on energy transition governance and advocacy.

He holds a PhD in power engineering from Lodz University of Technology and completed the Top Public Executive programme (MPA format) at IESE Business School. His doctoral research focused on market mechanisms for distribution network optimisation, after which he co-led a research team on energy systems optimisation and advised government and industry on energy markets and regulation.
