European Minerals Investment Network: Thematic Workshops RSVP
Thursday 23 April & Tuesday 5 May 2026
14h30-16h00, Virtual
Many thanks for your interest in the March 24 roundtable and in this emerging network. The discussion underlined how urgent it is to close the demand‑side gap, address Europe’s structural competitiveness issues, and move from project‑by‑project decisions to a true value‑chain strategy. It also highlighted that, for materials such as rare earths and graphite, the national security imperative increasingly supersedes industrial policy.
To delve into some of these points, we are organising two follow‑up workshops. Each workshop will begin with a short presentation from our team and then move to a structured, focused discussion designed to be additive to our previous exchanges.
Workshop 1 – Hedging Strategies in CRM Project Finance
Date and time: Thursday, 23 April, 14:30–16:00 CET
Format: Virtual workshop (Microsoft Teams)
This session explored the advantages and drawbacks of Contracts for Difference (CfDs) and other price support mechanisms, and how these can be effectively linked to offtake agreements.
Workshop 2 – Demand-Side Measures for Midstream Development in Europe
Date and time: Tuesday, 5 May, 14:30–16:00 CET
Format: Virtual workshop (Microsoft Teams)
This session will examine policy and market approaches to stimulate midstream capacity in Europe, particularly for graphite and rare earths, against a backdrop of high energy costs, fragmented financing, and deliberate non‑commercial advantages in competing jurisdictions.
