Roundtable: Developing the North Sea as a Strategic Energy Resource

The North Sea plays an anchoring role in Europe's energy security and resilience. Against this backdrop, together with the British Embassy Berlin and German Council on Foreign Relations, EIES convened a roundtable on 11 November to discuss how deeper collaboration among North Sea states can unlock this potential. Held in the context of the Kensington Treaty between the UK and Germany – which commits both countries to jointly advance North Sea energy infrastructure – the discussion brought together government representatives, industry leaders and energy experts to discuss the opportunities of regional cooperation ahead of the 2026 North Sea Summit
